2027 Pulse Trials – Frequently Asked Questions
Who is Pulse?
Moreton Bay City Pulse is the first Premier Netball club in the Moreton Bay region, established in 2024. We are a licensed franchise aligned with our local associations — Pine Rivers, Redcliffe Leagues and Caboolture Netball Association.
Our Sapphire and Ruby teams compete in the Hart Premier Netball League, which forms part of Queensland’s pathway towards Suncorp Super Netball and teams such as the Queensland Firebirds and Sunshine Coast Lightning. Through the Pulse pathway, athletes have opportunities to develop, progress and work towards higher levels of the game.
Who can trial for Pulse?
Trials are open to all female players who meet the age requirements, regardless of their club, association or previous involvement with Pulse. We especially encourage athletes from our local Pine Rivers, Redcliffe Leagues and Caboolture association regions to register and take the next step in their netball journey.
What are the age requirements?
Pulse welcomes players born in 2012 or earlier, with eligibility depending on the team:
- Sapphire & Ruby: Players turning 16 or older in 2027 — born in 2011 or earlier.
- Emerald & EPL: Players turning 15 or older in 2027 — born in 2012 or earlier.
- EPL 17U: Players turning 15, 16 or 17 in 2027 — born between 2010 and 2012.
What is the difference between the teams?
Sapphire is an Opens team competing in Division 1 of the Hart Premier Netball League. It is our highest-level team.
Ruby is also an Opens team, competing in Division 2 of the Hart Premier Netball League and sitting directly below Sapphire in our pathway.
Emerald sits below Ruby in the Pulse pathway but competes in a separate competition run by the Greater Brisbane Netball League (GBNL), in its Emerald Division. This team is primarily for 18U athletes, with capacity for a small number of 23U players.
EPL 17U competes in the Elite Premier League and provides a great introduction to the Pulse pathway, helping young athletes build their skills, confidence and competitive experience.
EPL Opens is a proposed addition for 2027. Whether this team goes ahead will depend on trialist numbers.
Which trials should I register for?
There are two separate trial registrations:
- 2027 Pulse Sapphire & Ruby Trials: For athletes seeking selection in our top two Opens teams.
- 2027 Pulse Emerald & EPL Trials: For athletes seeking selection in Emerald, EPL 17U or the proposed EPL Opens team.
Consider your age, playing experience and the commitment you can make. If you are unsure which trial is suitable, please contact us before registering.
What playing experience should I have?
Sapphire and Ruby trials are suited to athletes with strong representative or competitive netball experience who are ready for a high-performance environment.
Emerald and EPL suit athletes looking to build on their representative or competitive experience and progress through the Pulse pathway. EPL 17U is a particularly good starting point for younger athletes entering our program.
How much commitment is required?
Sapphire and Ruby require a high level of commitment to preseason preparation, team training, strength and conditioning, and matches.
Emerald and EPL generally offer more flexibility, but regular attendance, preparation and commitment to the team are still expected.
I want to trial, but I can’t make the trial date. Will there be other opportunities to trial?
There will not be another trial, but you can register and apply for an exemption to still be considered for selection.
Please email your exemption request to info@moretonbaycitypulse.com.au, including your player resume and any other useful information for our selectors to consider. Exemptions are subject to approval.
Who can I contact with questions?
